Zach Davidson is an average seventeen year old -- decent student, athlete, lots of friends. Until the day when he's in the locker room after track practice, and his teammate Andy Traylen tells Zach that he can read Zach's mind.
This event starts Zach and Andy into an increasingly intense and disturbing relationship. Finally Zach realizes that he's losing everything -- his privacy, his friends, his girlfriend, his status in school, and perhaps even his mind. But by the time he decides that he has no option but to sever the connection between his mind and Andy's, it may be too late to stop it.
Shadowboxing is a frightening view into the mind of someone who is not certain he is sane -- and as Zach begins to lose the ability to tell if what he's seeing is real, the reader will, too, until finally a climactic confrontation brings the whole thing into crystal-clear focus.
Shadowboxing eBook Gordon Bonnet
You'll definitely want to read this one in a single sitting. It's hard to write a review (or explain my minor critiques that kept it from being 5 stars) without setting off a spoiler alert, but if I had to sum it up in two words it'd be creepy AND delightful. A great little 85 page read, somewhere between a short story and full-length novel, I've never read a work of that length before, it was fantastic. Don't waste any more time, buy this ebook!Product details

Shadowboxing eBook Gordon Bonnet Reviews
A fast-paced story with characters that could be related to. A fantastic imagination.
Gordon Bonnet's command of storytelling is total! I've read many of his tales--I'm a fan--but Shadowboxing together with The Sugar Mill (in his collection of short stories, "Once Bitten,") are two of the most chilling I've ever read. Shadowboxing follows the slow descent into a teenager's dark night of the soul from which he...well, you really should read it to find out! Bonnet doesn't play unfair or cheap tricks on us although he's not above taking us down some roads with unexpected twists and turns. In this story though, I was pulled into the narrator's mental and emotional trickster game--is this me or is this the other? the ambiguity inherent in bonding and separateness especially during adolescence is at the heart of the story, which is convincingly told in the language and through the experience of a teenage jock. Bonnet plays the perception-reality game very well in this one! You won't be disappointed.
For a shorter book, this was very good. Not very predictable, and just the right amount of creepiness. I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! It kept making me think "this is so weird! What's gonna happen next?"
Well written book that took me back to my high school days and the biggest fear would be if someone knew my thoughts. Look forward to reading more from this Mr. Bonnet
